Columns with pre-packed sorbents for sample pre-treatment by solid phase extraction. GL Sciences InertSep SPE column sorbents come in two types of sorbents: polymer-based sorbents which have the widest pH compatibility and silica-based sorbents which are more cost-effective and have higher physical strength. Columns are available in various sizes and formats including cartridges, luer-type devices and 96-well plates for compatibility with every SPE method (gravity, vacuum, positive-pressure, to centrifugal systems). InertSep for AQUA is a SPE cartridge with low background contamination. Without conditioning, it is possible to conduct sample preparation easily and decrease solvent consumption by 50 % in procedure.
These two layer cartridges are packed with graphite carbon for removing pigments and NH2 sorbent for sample cleanup of organic extracts. This consolidation of two layers achieves high sample cleanup performance which cannot be obtained only on one layer.
These two layer cartridges are packed with graphite carbon for removing pigments and PSA sorbent for sample cleanup of organic extracts. This consolidation of two layers achieves high sample cleanup performance which cannot be obtained only on one layer.
InertSep PA is a special SPE modified with polyamide functional groups. Primary interactions are anion exchange and polar exchange. Secondary interactions are non-polar exchange.
InertSep K-solute is packed with diatomaceous earth and ideal even for the sample to form an emulsion during liquid-liquid extraction procedure. Dedicated rack for InertSep makes the operation simple and efficient.
A large number of mycotoxins are contained in natural food products. Among these, Aspergillus flavus is known to produce aflatoxins that are carcinogenic to liver cells. Mycotoxins in food safety have received a great deal of attention in recent years.
InertSep mini AERO series are active samplers for the analysis of Aldehydes and Ketones in outdoor gas, car cabin and exhaust gas in compliance with: Offensive Odor Control Law, Clean Air Act, and EPA. There are four types: AERO DNPH, AERO DNPH-HR, AERO Ozone Scrubber, and AERO SC, InertSep mini AERO series.
InertSep Phospholipid is developed for removal of phospholipids selectively and is able to minimize ion suppression of LC/MS/MS analysis. It can remove more than 90 % of phospholipids.
These two-layer cartridges are packed with GC-e graphite carbon for removing pigments and NH2 sorbent for sample cleanup of organic extracts. Due to the cost reduction of GC-e, these two-layer cartridges achieve high sample cleanup performance at low cost.

The EZ Cartridge RP-1 is a new type of solid-phase extraction cartridge comprising a solid-phase membrane in a Luer-compatible housing. Use of Empore membrane technology and a large-diameter design greatly increases the volume and flow rate of sample water passing through the cartridge, significantly reducing sample preparation time. The ...
InertSep GC/SAX/PSA/SI is a four layer SPE cartridge. GC has ability for the isolation removal of pigments and SAX, PSA and SI offer superior cleanup when conducting multi-residue pesticide analysis.
InertSep Slim-J AC cartridges are packed with active carbon particles uniformly size classified for liquid permeability. As ultra-pure active carbon is employed, it is clear of worry about contamination. Good retentivity of this sorbent even for highly polar compounds ensure high recovery and reproducibility. Luer device format supports a...
InertSep Slim-J AERO SDB400 is a cartridge for collecting semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOC) in the atmosphere. In addition to collecting pesticides and flame retardants in the atmosphere, it is also suitable for collecting naphthalene added to the target components for work environment measurement.
InertSep C18/DRY is a two-layer SPE cartridge and designed for sample preparation for residual pesticide analysis. C18 is to remove lipids and DRY is for dehydration.
InertSep SPE cartridges come in two major types of base gels - Polymer-based sorbents and Silica-based sorbents. Specialty phases are also available.
Polymer-based Sorbents
The advantages of polymer-based sorbent are their availability in a wide pH range and the absence of secondary interaction which can occur with silica-based sorbents.
Silica-based Sorbents
Silica-based sorbent materials are more cost-effective and have higher physical strength compared with polymer-based sorbent materials. Silica offers a wide variety of separation mechanisms using a combination of primary functional group interaction with secondary interactions due to the nature of silica.

Retentive Capacity of a Sorbent Compared to Sorbent Mass
Bed volume is the quantity of the solvent necessary to replace the air trapped in the solid phase. Void volume is equivalent to the bed volume.
How to Select a Sorbent
One of the most important elements to achieve successful solid phase extraction is selection of a sorbent which should be suitable for both the sample matrix and the target analyte. The sorbent should be carefully selected, taking into account the chemical properties of the target analyte, such as its solvent solubility and the physical nature of the sample matrix. In addition, it is important to develop conditions that are optimal for retaining the target analyte, while removing the sample matrix, then selecting an elution solvent for maximum recovery of the target analyte.
Recommendation for Selecting an Ion Exchange Sorbent
In order to effectively utilize the solid phase extraction method, it is important to choose sorbent mass and size appropriate to loading amount of the matrix and the target analyte. Generally, the total retentive capacity of cartridge type (including matrix) is said to up to 5 % of the sorbent mass.
